It was our first sisterly trip in 2015 that cemented our desire to design – we’ve always loved going to Greece and many of the elements you’ll see in our collections were inspired from our travels to Mykonos. You’ll find echoes of our colour palette all across the country, from the burnt red beach umbrellas at Nammo’s beach to the crusty edges of a well cooked croissant from the local fourno in the old town of Mykonos.
A day at Nammos beach starts around 11am, well rested, in a well put together beach ensemble. The day begins with an ice packed Freddo espresso or a bloody Mary with a crunchy celery stick to snack on, chill lounge vibes fill the air. Light swirls on the ocean amidst a slow and smooth version of Steve Wonder’s My Cherie Amour. The breeze catches your face – time for your first dip in the Mediterranean. The world has stopped and this is your life for the next five hours or so.
As the day progresses, so does the volume and intensity of the music. By time you are ready for a Greek salad and fresh village bread at the restaurant the beat has intensified to a bass driven version of Caress Whisper by George Michael with that well known saxophone introduction. And it’s just about time for that gin cocktail or crisp cold Riesling to put you in the mood.
Around 4pm you will hear a noticeable beat drop as the crowd dances away, the sun sets in shades of all things seashell amid fresh cuts of watermelon and a top up of crisp cold Riesling. Boom Lola’s theme is in full swing now, as you lose yourself in your first Mykonos experience but certainly not your last.
Mykonos – forever in our hearts
